Just a few photos from the A2 and Friends Christmas dinner last week at Cyma in Eastwood City mall. Sorry for the crappy photo quality, I just grabbed these off Facebook.

  • I got to wear this overwhelmingly cute christmasy dress that I thrifted a few weeks back. Ihe print is amazing, and I just love how festive I got to make it look when I paired it with red nylon thigh highs and a string of pearls. Cachi said I looked like a who from the Grinch movie.
  • Cyma food is delicious! We ordered this lamb and rice pasta plate that was just to die for. Just thinking about it is making me feel hungry again.
  • I got new nail polish colors from Mike, my Secret Santa. Thank you! I shall post photos of it soon along the rest of my Christmas haul so far.
  • Happy birthday to the December babies: Grace, Lando, Diana, Rome, Arianne and Debbie!

Thank you again to A2 and Friends for inviting me along! Iruth be told, I more than often find myself a bit embarrassed and shy being included in these things, as I haven’t really hung out with you guys for too long. Packaged deal ba kami ni lando kaya ganun? Hahaha. But seriously, thank you for making me feel welcome. :)

Gosh, it’s just 5 days before Christmas! how fast the time flies!

City of Angels

The title is an attempt to make my one day trip to Angeles with Lando last Sunday sound dreamier than it actually was. Not that it wasn’t. And yes, that is a disgustingly huge, pink, flowery bow on my head.

I’ve forgotten by now how Lando convinced me to spend the money I saved for the week to go with him. But I’m guessing it’s because of the yummy food he said we were going to get to eat.

We arrived late morning for some brotherly hospital visiting and some ravenous Yellow Cab pizza eating. Afterwards, we walked around to do some sightseeing.

IMGP0003 IMGP0004

It still amazes me how lavish Catholic churches can be. I wonder how much of the Church’s budget goes to prettifying. And lo and behold, what’s that I see?!

Yes, that is an LCD screen you see on the church column. I die of incredulity now.

Hey look at what’s next to the church! It’s Lando’s school!

He was practically giddy in reliving high school memories. (Note the sarcasm.)

Back in third year, we had a group plate to design a call center, and our site was situated somewhere in Pampanga. Two years later, here I am, a street away from the site.

I just had to take a photo of this cute restaurant. The name says it all: dainty.

Lando took me to this food place called Susie’s, which he said was known for their yummy palabok, cassava, and other delicacies. It seems to be a pretty popular place, because the place was packed the entire time we were there.

Lando bought this dish called bringhe, which to me was like palabok but used sticky rice instead of noodles. Up to now, I’m still debating on whether I liked it or not; I’m not used to eating something with sticky rice that isn’t sweet.

We dropped by Lando’s house afterwards. Customary to every home visit, we looked at his baby photos! But the coolest thing wasn’t seeing Lando with silver teeth (yep, he had caps made in nursery to keep his teeth from rotting), but it was seeing his photo album itself! We have the same one, only I have the girl version. I shall repost it again soon once I get a photo of it. Can you say meant to be? :”>

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner, and Lando decided to take me to this restaurant called Tollhouse.

I took Lando’s recommendation and ordered their lasagna. I have to say, this must be the creamiest, tastiest I have had EVER. NOMNOMNOM.

Lando had this dish called Tropical Chicken, which was basically Chicken Pastel. It was quite yummy too.

Fruity drinks yaaay

We also bought two bars of this amazing thing called Marshmallow Nut Fudge.

The entire dinner would have been perfect if not for one thing: the restaurant closed at 8 and we arrived a little past 7. The waiters were pretty rude and kept reminding us to rush because they were closing at 8. Why did they let us enter the restaurant in the first place if they couldn’t accomodate our eating time?  They were practically closing the lights on us. Turds.

On the bright side, we did get to take this cool double exposure photo of Lando. It’s so amazingly hipster-y, I can’t even.

After that, we went back to the hospital, then back to Lando’s to copy a few movies, before going en route back to Manila.

Overall, it was a really nice way to spend a Sunday. A big thank you to Lando! :)

P.S. Yes, he IS aware that he looks like a total psycho in the first photo.

The B-Sides

IMGP0006 (2) IMGP0005 (2)

Last Friday, I wore my beloved batwing hoodie along with one of the jeans I got from my mom. I was trying to go for the relaxed, slouchy, comfortable look, but I ended up looking like a weirdo. To save the outfit, I attempted to tie one of my hair scarves around my head to look like this, but I sort of failed in the knot-tying department.

IMGP0010 (2) lando

Lando and I decided to have our haircuts that day, so here we are taking our gratitious, before-haircut shots. Notice how dramatic Lando’s photo is, while my face looks utterly constipated. Anyway, we went to Technohub’s Bench Fix.

IMGP0016 (2) IMGP0017 (2)

And here we are, post-haircut photos!

As you can see, mine… didn’t really change much, since I’m trying to grow my hair out. But I have been cutting my bangs since forever, and  I thought it was about time I got them professionally trimmed.  Lando’s hair looks amazing though. And I think he knows it, because he kept saying how gwapo he looked. I couldn’t dream of disagreeing, not after he fixed my head band to make the pseudo ears stick up!

We were tired of lugging around our huge schoolbags all day so I decided that we could drop them off at the condo, because we were headed to what I personally think is a must-go-to food destination of Metro Manila.

IMGP0002 IMGP0004

We met up with Diana and Lloyd at Ortigas to go to the famous food extravaganza, Banchetto. For those who don’t know, it is a weekly event that occurs from 12 midnight onwards every Friday, with an amazing array of food stalls and vendors. (See their site for more details.) There is jus so much yummy food that I get dizzy each and every time I get to go there. I just have a hard time deciding what to buy!

Last Friday was a particularly crowded night, with the density of people rivaling the crowds on the MRT during rush hours. I guess it’s becoming pretty popular.

Huge servings of delectable food

I just had to LOL at this particular stall’s name.

Being the matakaw pigs that we are, here’s a photo of food haul. We had a hard time finding a place to sit because of the large amount of people around the stalls area, so we ended up walking to a nearby Seven Eleven to eat our food there.

Lando and me eating a Juicy Lucy burger

See how huge that burger Lloyd is holding! Diana is eating some Takoyaki balls.

Much to my chagrin, most of my food photos were just so blurred, because I couldn’t use my flash. It has been bothering me for a while, because no matter how much adjustments I make, all my shots come out as nothing but dazzling white. What is up with that? :((((

Nevertheless, I did manage to take a photo of one of the yummiest desserts I have ever had, a slice of a cake called Chocolate Surprise.

In the end, we were all too stuffed to finish all of our food, so we took the leftovers home instead.

I’m scared to find out how many pounds I gained from that night, but oh well.

All Backed Up

I know, I know. I have been neglecting posting anything. Truth be told, I missed doing something else aside from being online all day, so I tried enjoying the outdoors for the past week or so. But I’ve been itching to blog again, so I’m just going to recap everything significant that happened the past week in one go.

This was an unfortunate day for us. We didn’t get in AT ALL. The shindig started at 1pm, and when we got there by 3, they weren’t letting anyone go in anymore.

We met up with  Lauren and Chris, and we togehter waited in vain.

Lando and Lauren in matching Deviruchi hats.

We saw a few Arki batchmates in line as well!

In the end, we just ended up watching Due Date with Faye and Jaja instead. We had an impromptu sleepover at our condo as well. Not quite the day I expected, but I guess we made the best of it.

I already posted this last night, but  I think it deserves a non-ranty description.

Lando and I decided to go buy dinner at the kanto of our street where there are loads of stalls selling all kinds of street food. I had been craving for some Scramble ever since I saw it the other day, and I finally got to eat some! Yum yum!

We also ate siomai and Yakisoba, Lando’s current addiction.

Not very healthy I know, but we just needed to shake things up a bit.

I have a very loose schedule this semester, with only 9 units, so it’s no surprise that I’ll get a lot of free time, which I know I’ll need for thesis. But today, both my classes were cancelled. I had to go to our scheduled yearbook meeting though, and went jogging with Lando.

We ate at Cibola where we used the power of the almighty PowerCard to get ourselves free iced tea.

Aah, it’s so nice to have a kit lens to use for camwhoring again. (Thanks Daddy!)

I don’t know if it’s because I crammed everything into this short, breezy entry, but somehow the past days don’t seem as exciting as I thought they were.

This should teach me a lesson: BLOG EARLIER!

Tomorrow, I shall try my best to post some of the outfits I wore for the past week or so, including this micro mini impromptu photo shoot I had with Lando this afternoon! :)

EDIT: I might put them in three separate posts! :)

Penny For My Thoughts

Yesterday was Thesis Day 2 for me and Note Making Day 2 for Faye. We opted to go to Kopi Roti this time, and I have to say, the atmosphere was way better than in Beanbag Coffee, since there were no loud, noisy people playing cards or unsightly canoodling couples to roll your eyes at.

I also love Tablea Hot Chocolate, so I think Kopi Roti’s is becoming a fast favorite of mine. I’ve only tried Tablea at one other place, Xocolat.

They also have really cool Halloween décor!

I printed out the plans that I made for our schematic submission and tried my best to work out the kinks. I really need to start Sketchup-ing them again, but I’m still deciding whether I do that here in Naga or just continue refining my designs in freehand then just do everything once I get back to Manila. Í’m not really comfortable using Sketchup 8 yet, which is the version installed on our PC here at home.

I’m also having a bit of trouble trying to integrate the whole aesthetic of my design with the existing Bahay ng Alumni. Its design is just so imposing and church-ish, that any element I’ve tried to extract from it so far and tried to incorporate in my design makes the entire thing look like a seminary.

On the brighter side of things, our friend Stephanie was there! We rarely get to hang out ever since college started, so it was nice to spend time with her. She also helped me in cooking up ideas for the whole aesthetic dilemma.

We also really love our gold shoes. :3

After a hard afternoon’s work, we went out with some of our other friends from high school. Good fun, and many new secrets revealed. I was all but hyperventilating from the multitude of stuff I found out.

Only four more days left to enjoy Naga! I must make the most of it. :)

Friends, Lovers or Nothing

Who says you need to be official to have an anniversary?

Yes, I know. Countless people have said we should just stop being so fickle and just be “boyfriend” and girlfriend”. But why would we want to be like that when we’re having too much fun being Allie and Lando?

It has been one year since that fateful day when he asked me out for the very first time. So much awesomeness has ensued since then!

IMGP0023IMGP0010IMGP0005 IMGP0009IMGP0019

Despite being unable to watch John Mayer last night, inside the grounds nor outside (like we had originally planned for the day but decided not to because of the insane weather), we decided to make the most of things and just ate at one of our beloved restaurants, Pepper Lunch!

anniv drawing by Lando. colored in photoshop by Me.

Here’s hoping for many more great times with you. HAPPY PSEUDOANNIVERSARY! :3 (Yes we coined our own term)

P.S. Thesis is going to make the next week hell! I hope I’m still alive after everything! :s

Burger Blowout!

Brothers Burger had a 50% off on burgers promo yesterday, so we just HAD to head to the nearest branch to take advantage of it. We went to the recently opened Ali Mall branch.

I was a bit miffed because the only burger that was on sale was the Big Brothers Burger, and I wanted the Blues Brothers one, but I was quickly appeased upon learning that i could have blue cheese added on! From a steep P195 pesos, the burger cost only P97.50, plus P55 for the additional topping. Huzzah!

IMGP0007 IMGP0008 IMGP0010 IMGP0013

Thank you Brothers Burger! Sa uulitin! <3

Allie has seen many a dust bunny in her lifetime, most of them in her dorm room. She is often mistaken as a 13-year old, further intensified by her weird fashion choices that mostly involve cutesy patootsie rings, colorful knee high socks, and ribbons and bows in her hair. She dreams of waking up one day and finding herself as a character in Star Wars. Preferably a jedi. With a purple lightsaber.
