On the Brink

This is by no means a legitimate blog entry, but I figured I would upload it anyway for the hell of it. I’ve  done nothing much else but stare at AutoCAD and Sketchup workspace, that even the simple joys of MS Paint was a welcome stress reliever . Add two mouse controllers hooked up to a single computer and Lando and I were able to steal away a few precious moments to play mouse pointer tug of war.

And if anyone else is confused, that bloody thing on me is supposedly an alien coming out of my belly.

*Credits go to Lloyd Fontilla for the photo!

I am just about to give up on working on thesis for tonight. But before drifting off to restless sleep, I just have to post these awesome doodles Lando did tonight. Yes, he barely touched his thesis because of these. And no, I did not force him to work on these. I swear.

I know someone doesn’t have to worry about finding a career if ever the whole architect thing doesn’t pan out.

And look, I made an “artista" signature to adorn my future entries! Yay!

The things people do to put off thesis making.

Penny For My Thoughts

Yesterday was Thesis Day 2 for me and Note Making Day 2 for Faye. We opted to go to Kopi Roti this time, and I have to say, the atmosphere was way better than in Beanbag Coffee, since there were no loud, noisy people playing cards or unsightly canoodling couples to roll your eyes at.

I also love Tablea Hot Chocolate, so I think Kopi Roti’s is becoming a fast favorite of mine. I’ve only tried Tablea at one other place, Xocolat.

They also have really cool Halloween décor!

I printed out the plans that I made for our schematic submission and tried my best to work out the kinks. I really need to start Sketchup-ing them again, but I’m still deciding whether I do that here in Naga or just continue refining my designs in freehand then just do everything once I get back to Manila. Í’m not really comfortable using Sketchup 8 yet, which is the version installed on our PC here at home.

I’m also having a bit of trouble trying to integrate the whole aesthetic of my design with the existing Bahay ng Alumni. Its design is just so imposing and church-ish, that any element I’ve tried to extract from it so far and tried to incorporate in my design makes the entire thing look like a seminary.

On the brighter side of things, our friend Stephanie was there! We rarely get to hang out ever since college started, so it was nice to spend time with her. She also helped me in cooking up ideas for the whole aesthetic dilemma.

We also really love our gold shoes. :3

After a hard afternoon’s work, we went out with some of our other friends from high school. Good fun, and many new secrets revealed. I was all but hyperventilating from the multitude of stuff I found out.

Only four more days left to enjoy Naga! I must make the most of it. :)

Feeling Productive

Oo alam kong kita yung pencil lines. I was trying to go for the semi-grunge look but I failed. :(

EDIT: I’ve found out that HTML and CSS editing pre-set layout templates here in WordPress are quite limited, and since I’m too lazy to make an entirely new one out of scratch, this is the most layout revision it is going to get.

Almost makes me want to transfer to Blogger. Buti nalang I’m even more tamad to do that. XD

Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road

In more or less two hours, I will be on a bus home to the city that loves me most (or so I would like to believe), Naga City!

I have already made a very quick, random, in-your-face checklist of things to do for the ten lovely days that I will be home.

  1. Get some thesis work done. At the very least, edit in the faculty’s comments during the pre-deliberations.
  3. Finish special project for Sasha
  4. Catch up on Anime (EVA, Haruhi, Blood Plus and others available) and manga (Bleach)
  5. Go to the dentist (for my bleeding gums UGH), dermatologist (for anti-blemish stuff) and the gynecologist (long, semi-gross story, will not get into it)
  6. Photoshoot with the best friend
  7. Crafts, crafts and more crafts!
  8. Shop at ukay ukay shops and LCC (where I heard there are oodles of cheap clothes)
  9. Work on the cabana plans for Panicuason

Due to a surprise visit from Lando (YAY!), I am going to get to finish No. 3 sooner than I think. I can’t reveal any of the plans here for fear of being found out, but it was a fun thing to work on!

IMGP0002 I am hoping this too-bright image won’t reveal too much.

With all that said and done, I leave you with my scary face.IMGP0019

SAYONARA, MI AMIGOS!Will be blogging from Naga soon! XOXO

Lando and Allie: future National Artists

Every so often, students get bored while listening to a lecture in class or studying for an exam, usually resulting to them doing something else to bide their time. Sometimes we daydream, sometimes we sleep, sometimes we even open our laptops to play games or check Facebook.

Most of the time however, we prefer to draw.

Lando is my absolute schedule mate for the sem (we have ALL the same classes, one of the rare kind moments that CRS had), so we get to do a whole lot of stuff together. And yes, that includes being bored together. Which usually results in masterpieces like this.

IMGP0020IMGP0025Lando is the better drawer between the two of us, he beats me by a mile when it comes to cartoons and doodles. Siya nagdrawing nito. We’re Allie the Aggressive Astronaut and Lando the Lucky Leprechaun! :

As for me, I have a lot of bobo moments while drawing, like this epic fail of a venn diagram during our Arch159 class.IMGP0003

Although I do have my strokes of creativity at times. These were on my Arch176 notes on molds. (Note my really pretty handwriting HAHAHA)IMGP0023

The fencing reflex in babies, in cartoon form. Drawn during Psych101 by me. IMGP0004

I became a favorite subject of Lando’s to draw for a week or two, and this was one of his early attempts prior to the astronaut drawing. I think I look malibog in this particular one. :| IMGP0017

On the other hand, my favorite subject to draw is… also myself, mainly because I’m one of the few things/people I can actually draw decently. Here I am in robot (robutt) form.IMGP0024

Another favorite of ours to draw for a time was Domokun! Ang cute niya kasiiiii. This is from Lando’s notebook.IMGP0015

As I said earlier, there are thresholds to students’ attention spans during lecture classes, and this was what Lando drew when we reached ours one Arch163 class. Pigil na pigil ako sa pagtawa.IMGP0016

Although sometimes, we draw even during times when we are listening to class, like this one time during Psych101. We’re great multitaskers that way. (If you’re wondering, that’s me picking a fat Lando’s brain.)

IMGP0014 IMGP0021

To avoid monotony, sometimes we like to go out to study (when we have a little extra money to spare for coffee shops and the like). But somewhere in between, we get a little bit burned out, so we like to draw to take the edge off. And when I say we draw, I mean on anything.

IMGP0002 Like receipts. ALLIECAT <3 LANDORAT!

At this rate, I’m looking forward to looking through our notebooks once napuno na sila. Who knows, maybe we can sell them when we become famous architects. Tipong compilation of sketches or fillers in our biographies.

TO LANDO: Here’s to hoping I fill a whole lot more pages of my notebook with you. Heehee. :>

Allie has seen many a dust bunny in her lifetime, most of them in her dorm room. She is often mistaken as a 13-year old, further intensified by her weird fashion choices that mostly involve cutesy patootsie rings, colorful knee high socks, and ribbons and bows in her hair. She dreams of waking up one day and finding herself as a character in Star Wars. Preferably a jedi. With a purple lightsaber.
